CNC 5-axis machining

This high-precision processing technology can be applied to the processing of hard and brittle materials such as ceramics, quartz, and sapphire. Its characteristic is that it has an ultrasonic spindle, which can improve processing efficiency and processing quality. Compared with other processing methods, CNC 5-axis processing has greater advantages, can complete more complex processing tasks, and can achieve higher precision requirements.

Characteristic
The workpiece can move and rotate in five independent axes, making the machining process more flexible and precise. This processing method is usually used to manufacture parts or components with complex shapes. It can achieve multi-angle and multi-facet processing and improve production efficiency and processing accuracy.

Advantage
5-axis controlled processing can achieve shorter processing time, higher processing quality and accuracy, while reducing the number of settings, avoiding the situation where the linear speed of the center point of the spherical tool is zero, and reducing processing costs. In addition, 5-axis machining technology can also achieve one-time clamping, thereby reducing clamping costs and reducing the risk of scratches and bumps on the product.
.

In addition to this, 5-axis CNC machining also has the advantage of being able to machine complex geometries. Through 5-axis machining technology, multi-faceted machining can be completed in a single setting, thereby avoiding errors caused by multiple fixture changes and further improving production efficiency.
. At the same time, 5-axis CNC machining also has better flexibility and can rotate the part in one operation to achieve the required geometry, avoiding the need for complex fixtures.
.

What is the 5-axis CNC machining process?
The 5-axis CNC machining process is a highly precise and flexible machining technology that provides more processing freedom than traditional 3-axis or 4-axis machining, making it possible to manufacture more complex and precise parts. This machining method involves multi-axis motion of the workpiece to achieve simultaneous control in five different directions.

In 5-axis CNC machining, a machine tool is used that has a main spindle capable of movement in the X, Y, and Z axes, while also rotating two additional axes. This configuration allows simultaneous multi-directional cutting during the processing process, which helps to design and process parts with more complex shapes.

The basic 5-axis CNC machining process includes: designing CAD models, establishing tool paths, generating processing codes, machine tool processing, and inspecting workpieces. In this process, the CAD model is converted into cutting paths and machined directly on the workpiece according to the tool.

DWO/TCPC Management and Process

In 5-axis CNC machining, the application of DWO (Dynamic Workpiece Compensation) and TCPC (Tool Center Point Control) is a very important management and process. DWO is a dynamic compensation system that can adjust the machining path according to the geometric errors of the machine tool and environmental changes during the machining process to ensure machining accuracy. TCPC achieves more precise processing by controlling the center point position of the tool, which is especially important for the processing of complex curved surfaces.

In terms of management, regular calibration and maintenance of DWO and TCPC systems are required to ensure their normal operation. In addition, operators also need to receive corresponding training to be proficient in the operation and application of DWO and TCPC systems.
Through the DWO/TCPC function, operators can easily control the tool position and workpiece offset, thereby ensuring that each processed workpiece can meet the required accuracy and quality standards. The application of this function can not only improve the accuracy and efficiency of processing, but also help reduce production costs and make production management smoother and more efficient.

Ultrasonic spindle
CNC with ultrasonic spindle can improve processing efficiency and accuracy. The ultrasonic spindle can generate high-frequency vibration during the machining process, effectively reducing cutting resistance and thermal deformation, thereby improving the smoothness and accuracy of the machined surface. This combination can also be applied to micro processing and complex shape processing to improve the processing quality and precision of products.

Our company introduced MAZAK's VARIAXIS j-500/5X, which is an efficient 5-axis vertical machining center with excellent processing performance and precision. The X-axis travel of this model is 550mm, the Y-axis travel is 600mm, and the Z-axis travel is 500mm. Equipped with a high-efficiency spindle, the spindle motor output power is 11 kW or 15 hp, which can achieve high-speed and efficient processing. At the same time, VARIAXIS j-500/5X has an A-axis and a C-axis of rotation. The A-axis has an inclination angle of 150 degrees, and the C-axis is fully continuous rotation, providing a variety of processing possibilities.
This machining center uses the MAZATROL Matrix 2 control system, which combines 3D models and artificial intelligence technology to provide smarter and more precise processing capabilities. The workbench size is 400mm, the maximum workpiece diameter can reach 500mm, and the maximum workpiece height is 350mm, which can meet the processing needs of workpieces of different sizes. In addition, the tool is equipped with 18 tools, which can realize automatic tool change and improve production efficiency.
